Milford:
Emilie (Schmickel) Stadig, 95, of Milford, passed away on December 31 at U.Mass Hospital in Worcester. She was the widow of Gustav Stadig who died in 1953.
She was born in Sopron, Hungary; daughter of the late Martin and Hermina Schmickel. She came to the U.S. in 1946 and first settled in Aberdeen, Maryland. She moved to Milford in 1953 and had been a resident since that time.
Emilie had been employed by the former Hill Food Service of Milford and the former Big D Supermarket. She was a member of the Goldstar Wives, the Boy Scouts and the First Congregational Church of Milford. She also assisted for many years at the Community Supper.
Emilie is survived by three sons, Edward Stadig of Shrewsbury, Steven Stadig of Milford and David Stadig of Boston, two sisters, Hermina Dinardo of Milford and Irma Smith of Framingham and two grandchildren Jonathan and Stephanie Stadig.
A memorial service will be held at a time to be announced in the Watson Colonial Funeral Home, 24 Congress St. Milford. Burial of cremains will take place in Arlington National Cemetery.
