Jolene Marie (Barkas) Alexanian, 73, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on the morning of August 28. She leaves her beloved husband of 52 years, Souren Alexanian. Jolene is survived by a daughter, Tannya Alexanian Bixby and her partner Edward Galonek Jr. of Brimfield, a son, Sorren Alexanian of Milford, three grandchildren, Kaila (Bixby) Woodward and her husband Ryan of Northborough, Cameron Bixby of Brimfield and Christopher J. Burns of Jacksonville, NC; two great grandchildren, Winslow and Rhodes Woodward of Northborough, a sister Laura Lee McKnight of Stockton Springs, Maine. Jolene was predeceased by a brother Wayne Barkas.
Jolene was born in Portland, Maine in 1948, the daughter of the late Stephen and Dora( Martoni) Barkas. She graduated from Medway High School in 1967 and attended Northeastern University after high school. She pursued a degree in nursing at Bay State Community College as well. Her 40-year career ended working as an IT Specialist at Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, retiring in 2015.
Jolene most loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, stained glass and pottery making. she also enjoyed singing, playing the Piano and performing with the Greater Milford Community Chorus.
Her calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 11 th from 1 to 3:pm in the Watson Colonial Funeral Home, 24 Congress St. Milford. A funeral service will be held at 3:pm.
